Hey guys!
It’s been a few months that this website has been up, and so far, so good. I haven’t written as much as I usually do, due to my dayjob being quite demanding, but I have made some progress on the site and posted a thing or two.
Most recently I’ve added a “Tim Speaks” navigation option to the menu bar, AKA a ‘Blog Posts’ link so you can see posts like this relatively easily, where I’m updating you about various things. I’ve also retired the Dragon’s Rest forum for now; in its place you’ll see the chat function, which links to my discord server.
(Note: to speak in the discord server via the website interface, you’ll need to be a member of the discord server. Links are seeded throughout the website, and can definitely be found on the About page. Lurking is fine, but new members can’t speak in most channels until they make a quirk blurb in our “Who’s Who” channel, confirming they’re not a bot and have read the rules.)
That’s about it for recent site changes. Keep reading to see an abbreviated summary of what I’ve been working on with regard to my writing, an announcement about an upcoming challenge event, and at the very bottom I’ve included links to my recently published works.
What I’ve been Writing Lately
- [REDACTED] AU (no longer public)
I wrote 20k+ for a [REDACTED] crossover. I also put the first chapter on ao3, which I immediately regretted. There was a reason I told myself no more WIPs on ao3, and the reason became immediately apparent as pressure to upload settled on my shoulders, and annoying comments sprinkled themselves in among the positive ones. I’m rapidly losing patience with folks who can’t read author notes; for the [redacted] fic I even included an entire, several-paragraph thing announcing what I find rude as fuck in comments, primarily unsolicited concrit, and some folks had the audacity to offer unsolicited concrit about the boundaries I offered. Way to miss the point, jackass.
I’ve discovered that unless the fic is wholly finished, it’s a thousand times more comfortable posting in my own space, where people are forced to acknowledge that the author is a real person (you came to my site, after all), instead of just the next linecook in the endless free buffet line of ao3. You can see my posts about it on twitter, but tldr I’m disgusted by the folks who treat fanfic as if they’re ordering food at a restaurant. My fics are for me. Take the free cookie and go, asshole, don’t argue with me about how I should have cooked it for your preference. There’s 15 million cookies out there and not all of them are for you; the onus of finding one you like is on you. Don’t tell the author that they didn’t write to your preference! Just don’t fucking do it. Christ.
Regarding the WIP, I may or may not just pretend ao3 doesn’t exist before it dries up all my will to write for my own story. Ultimately I write for me and for my close friend-group who have the same interests as me (hi, guys!) and we live in our own corner of the internet that we’ve terraformed to our happiness. Maybe one day I’ll just turn off all comments on ao3 posts, before the bad apples spoil the whole barrel for me.
- Bunny!Bakugou, Bakugou/Aizawa fic
I maintain that this one is twitter’s fault! However, it was exceedingly fun to write. I wrote 10k in around 14 hours, including food and breaks, so really it was even less than that on the keyboard. I like writing silly porn fics, and it was fun to remember how much fun they can be, when I’m not feeling absurdly guilty (??? for some reason) about producing so much ~hentai~ stuff. We’ve talked about it before, but there’s a weird mental disconnect for me as a writer with the various source materials; smut from TV and Book fandoms feels fine, but anime porn feels like it needs a ten-page disclaimer and a written apology because it’s not “real” writing.
(I recognize this is absurd. I’m working on it.)
- Sasuke/Charasuke, unpublished
I almost forgot about this one, but found it when I checked my WIP folder. I started a Sasuke/Charasuke smut fic. Charasuke is, indeed, Road to Ninja!Sasuke. It will never fail to delight me that in literal opposite land, Sai can’t draw, Kiba likes cats, and Sasuke likes women. I can only assume that Road to Ninja!Jiraiya is a monk. However, this does paint canon!Sasuke in a fantastically queer light, even more than, you know, the entirety of his existence. I’m going to go ahead and cite Emi as a long term enabler/influence for my love of the RTN!verse, and Charasuke in particular.
The fic eclipsed 6k, which is quite rude of it since it’s meant to be a one shot, quick blowjob. Instead they’ve started comparing themselves and their lives, and Tim has begun channel her inner ‘Teland’ (aka fantastically convoluted plot, as demonstrated through conversations in ‘bed’). Tragique, truly. It’s actually been really fun to write.
Charasuke: “You refuse to smile at all. I like getting pegged. We are not the same.”
The project brings me great joy and laughter.
Upcoming
Most of you know that I’ve had KakaZabu Week 2021 listed in the ‘Challenges’ category for June. What you might not know is that this is the fourth consecutive year I’ve hosted the fanweek, always in the last (full) week of June, on various platforms. Keep an eye out for the interest check in the next few days, and I’ll make the Event announcement; I’m pretty sure it’s going to be write/draw throughout June 1st-19th, and then begin posting using the various #kakazabuweek2021 hashtags to post your finished fic or art beginning June 20th.
(#Kakazabu week 2021 for ao3 & tumblr, #kakazabuweek2021 for twitter).
We started doing it in 2018 and it’s a ship week focused on the Naruto characters Hatake Kakashi & Momochi Zabuza. This year I have my site up and running and I plan to keep a small collective of links from everyone who participated, because not everyone posts on the same platform (artists preferring twitter, for example). This way everyone who played can look at everyone else’s work, and hopefully we can do the same thing for next year and get a little archive going! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any ideas or concerns.
