Snippet: Amy finds out

“You’re fucking Regent!” The door slams shut behind her, frizzy brown hair almost floating around her face which is twisted up in a snarl.

“Technically…” Alec disagrees, biting his lip to smother the grin, almost failing.

“Do not.” She seethes, crossing the loft living room in long strides until she can push him down onto the couch. He goes, willingly.

Technically,” Alec says, bringing her face close enough that he can nuzzle their cheeks together, “I’m the only one in this house not fucking Regent.”

“Arrrrrrrrsfjghg!”

Alec snickers as her scream echoes.

Half-climbed on top of him as she is, it’s easy to wrap arms around her and tug her into a cuddle.

Brian pokes his head out of the kitchen at the commotion.

“Oh, hey Amy.” He says, like she’s been here before. Which, she hasn’t. Just to be clear. “Are you staying for lunch?”

“I’m staying forever!” She snaps, vicious and irritable. Mm, clearly not caffeinated yet…

“Carol finally cross the line?” Alec asks, going for sympathetic but landing somewhere closer to ‘gleeful’.

You shut up.” The finger is back in his face. Alec nips at it, grinning shamelessly. She pokes him and a painful zit appears on his cheek.

“You rude bitch.” Alec can’t help but laugh, wrestling her until he’s on top and she squeaks. “Take that back.”

“Make me.” Amy lifts her chin, something a little wobbly in her expression. For all her bluster she did just technically run away from home

Alec wonders if it’s as euphoric and terrifying for her as it was for him.

“I was wrong.” He said, leaning close to make it a low, teasing breath by her ear. “If you’re staying, there’s two people who aren’t fucking Regent. Want to fix that?”

Amy sucked in air a little sharply, staring up at him.

He was just in sweats and one of Brian’s black muscle shirts, so nothing too outrageous, but luckily his facecard could do the work his outfit lacked.

“M-maybe.” She breathed, eyes wide and blown. Alec leaned down and kissed her jaw, the side of her neck.

“Okay, then just one rule if you’re staying at Chateau de Undersider.”

Amy blinked at him, biting her lip.

“You’ve got to let us fix your hair routine, I swear to fuck.” Alec pressed a loud kiss to her cheek, rolling off of her as Lisa came into the room. “Curls! Need! Maintenance! Lisa, tell her.”

“It’s frizzy like that because you don’t take care of it properly.” Lisa said at once. “Let me call Taylor over, we’ll handle this tonight.”

Amy looked mutinous, betrayed, and then giggled despite herself. Sank into the couch cushion she looked very small and brave. Alec offered a hand to help her upright, snagging Rachel’s hoodie from a nearby cushion.

“Here, it’s soft.” He tugged it over her head and stopped her before she could go too far, tucking her in against his side.

“Thanks.” Amy said quietly, leaning into it. She cleared her throat. “What’s for lunch?”

“I hadn’t gotten started yet, actually.” Brian walked by, laid a big hand over her head, ruffling the frizz slightly. “Tell you what—you pick. Whatever you want.”
